Case Studies

A startup, with only seed money and an idea asked us to assist in building their Web service and provide the managed infrastructure to support it. We delivered the product with a fixed priced and worked with IBM to provide managed on demand services.

A technology company with a product applicable to the financial services sector needed help to properly position themselves. This was a classic case of technologists with first-rate ideas but little or no business experience (by their own admission). We refined their message, created a go to market strategy, and assisted by accompanying them on sales calls and major deal negotiations.

A venture capital firm recently purchased the marketing rights to a country code top-level domain (ccTLD) on the Internet and wanted to capitalize on their new asset. G1 Consultancy built out their technology and assisted in an analysis of the market. Initially we helped them to conceptualize a plan for going to market. Within a year we had created their eBusiness capability and the entire backend infrastructure to support the new strategy.

A global telecommunications company wanted to launch a professional services business in the United States. We assisted in positioning their services, identifying opportunities, securing their first deal, and serving as their program management office on that project. We continue to assist them in expanding their client base.

A startup, with only seed money and an idea asked us to assist in building their Web service and to provide the managed infrastructure to support it. We began by thoroughly understanding their new technology concept and business objective, helping them to think through various scenarios and hone their business design. Before considering project development, we proposed an in depth one day analysis resulting in a complete software specification delivered within one week. Pleased with our documentation and with our insight into both the business and technology nuances, we worked closely with the client on the application development project.
Recognizing the need to preserve capital and rapidly produce the first version of the software, we committed to a fixed price and a rapid development project schedule. This solution was awarded IBM's Server Proven certification and the prestigious 2006 Beacon Award.

We teamed with IBM to host the application and to provide database administration. These managed services were provided on a virtual partition on a mainframe in an IBM datacenter. In this environment the application scales on demand to peak loads that are many multiples of the baseline.

After a successful live test that was conducted within just a few months of the initial engagement, we are assisting the client in second round funding, business development, and advanced versions of the Web service.

technology company
This company had interesting product offerings and creative development people but needed to build a business. We were able to assist in the reorganization of their operation to bring it up to generally accepted standards. We rewrote the business plan and made it actionable. We recruited capable staff, developed ways of getting them more visibility and accompanied them on client calls. Over time we were able to refine their message and make the sales force effective.

In addition we assisted in the development of financials and presentation of the business plan to assist in raising additional capital to fund expansion plans.

venture capital firm

What started as an assignment to evaluate the acquired asset and supporting technology infrastructure resulted in a closer and much more comprehensive relationship. We developed a unique strategic plan for this start-up company and helped give it a singular position in the market. We helped negotiate the terms and working relationships with government entities, domestic and overseas, that would affect our client’s business in managing a ccTLD. We assisted in evaluating alliance partners and affiliates. We worked with the client to develop complimentary products and services to enhance its offering. We managed the design of marketing collateral, from logo to web site. Leveraging a team of our specialist partners, we designed and developed the entire eBusiness solution and arranged for managed hosting with IBM. Until the client could bring these various functions in-house, we effectively became the outsourcer of the services and a key enabler of the new business launch.

global telecommunications company
A major Asian telecommunications company wanted to expand their service offering in the United States by enhancing the value they bring to customers. Our client provides a Tier 1 global data network and managed hosting in premier datacenters around the world, but without a professional services organization to build custom solutions for customers these products became commoditized. Our client had no offering for the multinational corporations who otherwise saw benefit in our client’s global reach but who needed a complete end-to-end solution for infrastructure management.

We helped our client build professional services capability from the ground up. We developed the basic and advanced tools necessary for success in the market including technology optimization and management methodologies by working with expert partners. We also helped develop a market competitive service level agreement (SLA) for integrated network and server management.

We built a team to pursue and land our client’s first major technology infrastructure management deal. After building the initial business case for the beta customer, we developed a technology optimization plan encompassing secure and reliable wide area and local area networks for multiple offices, server consolidation, and managed hosting. The resulting project was a multi-year, multi-million dollar technology management contract that launched our client into the professional services business.
